Old school saves money
Sometimes Old School is better than New School. (BTW, that’s not me in the video. Alas, I haven’t been that young and handsome for a long time.)
I decided to go back to shaving the way my Dad did, with a double edge safety razor. Turns out my desire to be retro cool is also saving me scads of moolah. The cost of todays cartridge blades is crazy. For example, the price of Gillette Mach3 Turbo blades is $54.60 for 24 blades at CostCo. That’s $2.28/cartridge! Talk about a marketing ploy gone wild!
My double edge razor blades cost $11.00 for 100. That’s 11 cents each. That means that even if I only get one week out of each blade I can shave for nearly two years on $11.00. The razor itself costs more than todays plastic handled Gillette razors but once you’ve bought that you’re good to go.
